Almost no spend month…

Tomorrow is the last day before we embark on our ‘no spend month’. For some reason I am a little anxious. Which is silly – its not like we don’t have money there if we need it. But just the idea of not being able to spend anything except for the essentials is kind of hard for me to get my head around for some reason. It just goes to show how much I need to do this. To re-set my brain into thinking that money doesn’t just flow from our wallets.

The general idea will be to only spend on essentials. The only variance to this that I have made is that I need to buy one birthday present and hubby and I get one veto day each (not to go crazy – for prior commitments).

My aim will be to keep our grocery budget under $150 a week for 2 adults, 2 kids and 2 dogs. We have a few big bills this month – rego and electricity, along with all the usual bills so they will probably take some of the cash we are able to save plus my shifts at work are still all over the place so money isn’t guaranteed which makes it tricky.

I really want to get back on track financially after purchasing our camper so hopefully this is the way to do it. To stay accountable I will be keeping a spending diary of everything we spend and posting it on here. I will also be keeping a savings tally of our progress 🙂
